Glass Bottles and Glass Jars Sourcing Project Case Study

This case study illustrates how we at Dragon Sourcing helped a leading European food company find reputable suppliers of quality glass bottles and jars for their retail business. In this project, the client restricted our search to vendors in China, India, the UAE, Poland, and the Czech Republic only. They further asked us to ensure that the potential suppliers we shortlist for them must be manufacturers of the required products and have experience in export. The suppliers we have chosen should also have certifications for any of the Global Food Safety Initiative’s (GFSI) food safety standards or schemes. The client further stated that we must give priority to those vendors who have quality management and social compliance certifications.

Once we got the project, we first did a demand analysis, and based on the report, we did a market analysis. The market analysis helped us identify 88 potential suppliers. We then conducted pre-screening to prune the list further and shortlisted 41 vendors. Our team then sent an RFI-RFQ to these 41 shortlisted suppliers and received replies from 11. The suppliers’ responses were carefully assessed for their capacity to satisfy the needs of our client, which included product quality, cost, and delivery capabilities. We also considered their qualifications in quality management and social compliance, as well as their history of following food safety regulations. Based on our analysis, we gave weight to all 11 suppliers in our recommendation chart. We then shared our findings with our client, along with all the charts and tables so that they could make an informed decision. Dragon Sourcing took 8 weeks to complete this project to the satisfaction of our client.
