Cleaning Sponge Case Study

This case study describes a sponge-sourcing project. Dragon Sourcing (DS) did it. DS is a company that specializes in sustainable sourcing from emerging markets. The primary objectives of this initiative were to identify and pre-qualify suppliers of cleaning sponges in China for a key client. The project included many tasks. The tasks involved making a supplier database. We also made RFI and RFQ templates and did analysis. Our team created supplier profiles and provided optional pre-audit reports. DS adopted a systematic approach consisting of eight distinct steps. Initially, the team conducted an in-depth analysis of product demand and client specifications. Subsequently, they analyzed the Chinese supply market to compile an extensive list of potential suppliers. After this, suppliers faced a first screening. We shortlisted the companies based on set criteria.

Our team identified 40 potential Chinese vendors for the cleaning sponge category. After conducting phone screenings, we sent RFIs and RFQs to 18 companies, and 11 of them responded. We scored the responses, and based on the outcome, our experts recommended 5 top suppliers for further consideration. They had the best mix of RFI scores, low prices, existing samples, and high production capacity. They were also open to collaborating. Upon receiving responses, the team carefully analyzed the data. This led to supplier rankings and actionable recommendations for potential audits. Additionally, DS offered optional pre-audits for recommended suppliers to further validate their suitability.

The project ended. Our experts provided invaluable help. They assisted with final negotiations and contracts with selected suppliers. This careful and structured approach ensured the project’s success. It met both the client’s needs and DS’s commitment to sustainable sourcing.
